A candidate for the succession to the throne of Cayor, Lat Dior very early on became one of the emblematic figures of resistance to colonial penetration in Senegal. The story begins with the death of his brother, Damel Birima Ngoné Latyr Fall. The council of the electors decided to entrust the management of the kingdom to a new Damel, Macodou. This appointment will not be to the liking of the French who are beginning to settle in Senegal. Macodou will therefore be hunted down and replaced by a new, more cooperative Damel. It is in this context that Lat Dior decided to start the struggle to regain control of the Cayor in order to definitively repel the French settlers. For 30 years he fought for the honour and dignity of his people. The series is a tribute to this illustrious character who fought more than 20 battles in his short life.
